Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Any recommendations for a canvas hosting solution? I checked out Canvas LMS Cloud Hosting, Canvas LMS Installer, Docker Container and VM and Canvas LMS Hosting Service - VPS with Canvas LMS Installed but I just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience or suggestions.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Does anyone have any advise on this? I need to make a decision. BTW when I post here do they also see this in the canvas developers group since it was also shared there?
ravmitterhoff, I don't have any experience with this as we are hosted directly through Canvas the company, but I'm going to share this with the https://community.canvaslms.com/groups/canvas-developers?sr=search&searchId=f0187b05-6055-461c-8078-... group to see if they can help. They deal with more of the back-end/programming side of Canvas and might have insight they can share into this type of question.

Yep, any groups that this post is shared with will see everything posted here.
Unfortunately you've posted at one of the most quiet times of the year. A good chunk of Canvas users celebrate Christmas and have a winter break during this time, so not as many people are in the Community answering questions. Give it another week or so and it will pick back up as people come back to work.
Something you could consider is contacting the different hosting options and asking for them to refer you to current customers. That way you could contact the current customers yourself and hopefully get your questions answered and know they are (hopefully) being forthright. I know we've done this before for other services and it has worked pretty well.
Hi ravmitterhoff,
It seems your question has really got the community stumped. Did you try out what Kona suggested? Have you had any success and do you possibly have some experience you could share back to the community?
Cheers,
Stuart
I'd be curious to know your motivates for looking at other hosting solutions for Canvas.
If your only motive is to save a few dollars, I'd argue that its better to host directly with Canvas. Yes you might be able to save some money by using another company...but considering most company have hidden fees or issues with bandwidth and load balancing...you'll have a better experience dealing directly with Canvas. This will also be hugely healthful in terms of support and outages.
The good news, is out of all the LMS providers, Canvas is the most fair with it comes to hosting.
We are giving the Canvas Admins area a little bit of love and just want to check in with you. This will also bring this question new attention.
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.
