Bug/Feature in Naming Courses?

So with Canvas it's nice that you can give your courses a nickname so that they're easier to identify (on our campus courses are identified through canvas with a 5 digit number like 11902 alongside the title, which can be confusing if you teach multiple sections). But unfortunately if you import course content you never see those nicknames - you just see the course's official name. Can this be fixed so that you can look for courses using the short name you gave them?

The Nickname feature is a dashboard setting and not actually renaming the course for anyone besides you and your dashboard.  If your institution allows it, you can change the name in the "Settings" menu and then that filters down to the other areas of Canvas.  

You may already know this and your institution blocks the changing of names but thought I would through that out there.
