[ARCHIVED] imscc course export file is much larger than expected

I have exported my course as an imscc file so I can share it with a colleague. I've done this many times before, and the file is usually 2,000 - 5,000 KB. When I did this most recent export, it is nearly 300,000 KB. To my knowledge, there isn't anything unusual in the course that would be so large. The problem is that our email system won't allow me to attach a file that big. I can send it through Google Drive, but my real question is why this is happening. Any ideas what could be going on and how to fix it?

Hi @jgarcia2939
I have no idea why this is happening, so you may want to submit a support ticket.
However, there is another option for making your course content available to others, and that is Canvas Commons. These guides should help:
- What is Canvas Commons?
- How do I use Canvas Commons?
- How do I share a course to Commons?
- And for your colleague, How do I import and view a resource from Commons?
Keep in mind that for whatever paranoid control-freak reasons, some schools restrict instructor access to Commons. If this is the case, you will need to open a discussion with your school's Canvas Admin.
Good luck,
Kelley
