Hi  @nigel_russell9  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

This one is easy - if the assignment has been graded by your instruct, and your instructor uses the Canvas gradebook; then you just go to Grades! This guide will help https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-9540-4212724430 

If you don't see a grade for an assignment, then contact your instructor. There are a lot of variable, and the teacher is often most of those variables.
