ok so I have followed the instructions and graded it again however I cannot get rid of the green background (automatically set by Canvas) to go away and for the grade to show. How do I get the grade to show?
Are the grades for the assignment set for automatic or manual posting? If no grade is showing, it sounds like manual posting is set for the assignment. if it is manual, set it to automatic and then post grades. You can just post grades and leave it manual posting so that you control when the grades are visible to the students.
You can also change the posting policy from the gradebook by clicking on the three vertical dots and making the correct selection.
All assignments are set to post grades automatically. After trying to change the grade multiple times I changed the color in the gradebook for resubmitted assignments to clear and the grade the showed for all assignments. I then changed the color back to green and it worked. I dont know why this worked but I am good for now.
Well I guess that is good. That is a strange procedure. I have always had the colorization go away when I entered a grade - but I do not do too much with that aspect of the gradebook.
Thanks Travis, this was the solution for me.
I am not sure if this would have worked in your case, but it did mine. A student's grade box was shaded green and I could not overwrite it with a score. I tried changing it to late or missing and then tried to enter the score. Then I typed EX for excused. The green shading vanished, and then I went back and entered the score. The green shading did not come back.
