[ARCHIVED] browser and app don't talk to each other

hello - i finally downloaded the app to see what my students see, and i noticed that the app follows none of my instructions for hiding materials. my "student view" in the browser platform follows directions, while my student app just shows everything. it also sends them notifications for every change, despite the fact that i do not check the box to notify them. i am so frustrated.

The Canvas Student app by itself isn't a true student view. It's kind of an in-between compared to the browser, so some of what you are seeing in the Canvas Student app is not seen by your students. 

The best way to view the student view is actually through the Canvas Teacher app. Below is the release notes for Student View in the Canvas Teacher app:
