I need to create a yearbook course on Canvas and would like to use, as assignments, spreads created on the Entourage Online Yearbook platform. Is this type of Canvas assignment considered as an "External tool"? If so, is it possible to configure it? And how? I read the "How do I add an external app in a course?" but that is not clear to me at all.

Hi everyone in this thread,
Sorry there were no replied a few years ago when this was created. I'll try to add a bit of clarity now though...
External apps (also referred to commonly as external tools) are integrations outside of Canvas that are build to support the Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) standard to pass data back and forth from Canvas to the app. The app has to be specifically made to support this standard, which is really specific to the education area. For the specific system mentioned here (Entourage), I don't see anything about them supporting the LTI standard.
Even when an app does support the LTI standard and can be used with Canvas, installation of the app had to happen either by an Canvas administrator (most commonly) or a sometimes a Teacher. If you're a teacher, I'd definitely recommend talking to your school's Canvas team about what external apps are available, and to let them know if there is one you'd like to have added.
In the case here, it does seem like a screenshot or PDF printout would probably be the best solution is yearbook creation content needs to be submitted to Canvas as an assignment.
Hope this helps!
