I need to write a reply in a discussion but I am not given the option to write a reply, how can I fix this?

Hi  @janelle_chavira ,

There might be a number of reasons why you are unable to reply to a discussion forum, such as it may have been closed/locked (due to an end-date being reached).

For things like this, you would need to reach out to your Teacher/Facilitator directly, there is a great guide on how you can do this here How do I send a message to a user in a course in the Inbox as a student?

Hopefully the teacher can check if it has locked prematurely and unlock it for you.
