What does "T" mean in the gradebook?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Ok. I was looking at it from an instructor point of view. Not a student.
here is the student guide that explains the T
How do I use icons and colors in the grades page (not where I would look for the information).
You were looking at the instructor side - which does not show the T. The students do get the T for text entries that have not been graded.

Hi Bethany,
I believe this post will help answer your question. https://community.canvaslms.com/message/170537-re-assignment-score-shows-a-t?commentID=170537#commen...
The suggested link is broken.
Good afternoon, @james_neill ...
It looks like the link that @bneporadny provided was working just before Instructure migrated to a new Community platform (the one we are currently using right now). Unfortunately, not all links migrated properly. The good news is that if you look at the link from Brian's posting, you can see part of the title in the URL. You can try searching for that title using the search box at the top of any page here in the Community. I tried that myself, and I found the working link for you:
Solved: Assignment Score shows a 'T' - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
Hopefully this will be of help to you and others. Sing out if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
Thanks very much @Chris_Hofer - it helps to know that "T" stands for text submission [which hasn't been graded yet].
However, as noted in the discussion for that post, the official list of symbol meanings for the gradebook doesn't include "T"? https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-13020-415295583
Are you seeing a T in your gradebook? I don't see a mention of it in the document either (but we both could have missed it). I am wondering if that was an old designation and now all you see is the text document icon. Of course if you are seeing a T than it is still around and should be in the document.
If you are seeing the T, what exactly is the assignment type and what is the grading setup for that assignment.
Ron
Thanks @Ron_Bowman.
Yes students are seeing "T" as their Score for a text submission assignment for which I've posted all grades, but their individual submission hasn't yet been graded.
Maybe something more user friendly could be shown instead?
