[ARCHIVED] Unable to do a media recording in Google

Hello--

I am unable to record in Canvas using the media recording tool. This happens only when I use Google Chrome and Safari. It works when I use Firefox.

I have taken the following steps:

  • cleared cache and cookies
  • checked the microphone to the on (blue) toggle switch
  • restarted the computer
  • quit chrome and then restarted the computer

Please help.

Sorry to hear you were having this issue! Hopefully you were able to get it resolved, but if not maybe I can offer some suggestions.

I recommend starting off by making sure that your Chrome browser is up to date. I know that the media record tool does not work in Safari. 

If your browser is up to date, try resetting it to default settings - https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/3296214?hl=en

If that does not work for you, try uninstalling Chrome, restarting your computer and then installing it again.

If all else fails, you will want to reach out to Canvas Support.
