[ARCHIVED] Teacher Activity Report navigates to wrong link

I just recently discovered the Teacher Activity Report and thought it was a great tool - until I started using it. The Teacher Activity Report is found when you go to the People  menu option and then select the Student Interactions Report from the Dropdown menu. At that point the "Teacher Activity Report" appears (odd that it's called 2 different things - but that's not my issue...) On the far right hand side is a column labelled "Ungraded Assignments" There are links to each student's ungraded assignment - however the link does not always navigate to the correct student. for example, in the screenshot below, the first link in column 6 is "W04 Assignment:" for Stephen Joseph Reed Hanson. When I click on that link, it navigates to the second screenshot - which is the assignment for Christopher Scott Alexander...So the hyperlink is messed up somehow...

Hi  @goldst ,

I just tested this out and every link I tried took me straight to the correct student not sure what might be happening with your account so my best suggestion would be to submit a ticket by selecting Help then Report a Problem.  Someone that has access to your institution can take a look and provide you with more details.

Other than my early explorations when this feature first became available, I never play in this activity report. So imagine my wonder and amazement when I went into one of my PD courses to check out  @goldst s issue and discovered that for many of my participants, their last activity date was more than 2,000 days ago. for a course I ran last fall. The big winner was 2660 day, or 7.287 years for a participant who submitted her last assignment 11/7/19. Hmmmmmmm..............

 

I am not thinking this is a particularly reliable tool that needs some serious tender loving care and costly professional repairs.

 @kmeeusen     ohh!  I just took a look and you are right about this feature needing some TLC.  I was not paying attention to the Last Student Interaction column just the to the Ungraded Assignments.  On a side note you have me beat on day!  HA!

I have done a little investigation into this problem and it seems to be related with "inactive" students. The example I gave shows that the submitted work is from an inactive student. But when I click on the link, it takes me to an active student's work. If the People list showed that a student was inactive, I wouldn't click on the link but since it doesn't indicate if a student is active or inactive, then I have to remember who is active and who is inactive.

I won't bother creating a ticket since I have my own work-around. But after reading some of the other responses to this e-mail thread, it seems that this feature needs to be better tested - there seem to be other issues with it.

I find it very useful - just wish it worked better.
