Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello!
I have a teacher who is using the External Tool submission for her assignment. She has the due date set as yesterday at 6 PM and the Available Until today at 6 PM. Is there a reason why the grade book does not show the Red Status Missing for students who did not submit by the due date? I cannot find if this is just a missing capability of the External Tool Submission feature.
Thank you!

It is because it is an external tool. Please take a look at the note below from the How do I apply a Missing Submission policy in the Gradebook? guide.
The Missing Submission policy will not be automatically applied to No Submission, On Paper, or External Tool assignments. However, a Missing label can be added in the Grade Detail Tray.

Now that New Quizzes is also an external tool, I find that I very much miss statuses being automatically provided in the grade book. As a high school teacher, I could previously go into the grade book and quickly make adjustments for absent students who would complete work after their return. (I just switched missing to none in speedgrader) Now it seems I have to keep checking late submissions to determine if a submission was late or if it is makeup work. I'm checking multiple submissions, multiple times (even using the new filters).
