Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I've set up a Canvas quiz that contains both multiple choice/fill in the blanks content questions and a set of optional questions of the form "If you would like, please explain your answer to the previous question." The optional questions are all given a point value of zero. Unfortunately, unless I manually go in and score these questions as "0", students cannot see their grades for the quiz on the gradebook (they can see which questions they got correct). Is there a workaround for this issue?
Hi, @paselkin . This is a part of Canvas that has evolved over the years based on the different ways people use quizzes and the different needs they have. You're right, Canvas does wait to show the quiz grade until all questions are graded, even if those questions are worth zero points. There's not a workaround that I know of however there are some things in this response that might be of assistance, How to give every student the same grade for an "essay" question
Thanks. I reached out to James Jones about his API and Speed Grader solutions to that problem, one of which should work for me.
