Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hey all, iOS and Android released the new student annotations feature yesterday (9/27/16), and I'd love to hear everyone's feedback!
On a related note:
I'll be doing a Canvas Live presentation (Mobile Annotations: Quick Demo ) on it next week, hope to see ya'll there!
Love the annotation feature, but when some of my students try and type answers into a document, the app randomly crashes and they loose their work. Doesn't seem to be an issue in the Canvas community from what I can see. It must be something on our student's end. I need to figure out what is causing it though. Could it be a memory issue? We have both 16gb and 32gb iPads. Some students are still running 9.3.x others are on iOS 10.x could this cause it? They are all running the Canvas App version 3.15.2. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am about to loose my mind over this one!
Thanks,
Chris Pondy
Hi there,
Any idea if there is going to be an update to auto-generate assignments when submitting pdfs. For example, when students enter a course and annotate a pdf before submitting, they have to scroll through all the assignments in the course before submitting. With our younger students, they end up submitting to the wrong assignment. Is there a way whereby whenever they open a pdf within an assignment, the submission feature automatically generates the right assignment for submission.
We try to preselect the assignment when we can. There are some times it was pretty messy technically that due to time constraints we were unable to do so, such as when coming from a module. It can totally be annoying having to scroll to find the assignment! We'll take another look here soon, things changed recently in modules to make preselecting the assignment less messy!
Thank you for the reply.
I love the annotation tool in Canvas; it is a great help for my students. I have some students reporting to me that when they annotate on one of my iPads in my classroom and then go home to work on it, they aren't able to see their annotations on their personal devices? Is there something I do on my end so they can annotate from their account over multiple devices?
Currently, annotations done on documents are only done locally on the device, no syncing happens unfortunately. If a student wants to use the annotation feature for documents, it needs to be done on the same device. Feel free to submit a feature request for this! I could see it would probably help students out a ton!
