Hi @lkorabekemerson Welcome to the Canvas Community. Not just for discussions, but also for assignments, saving will save to Canvas what you have input but will NOT make it either available to be seen by students. It will be (for students, not you!) as though it never existed. Publishing makes it available/seen by students and, just as importantly, will make it a column in your gradebook where you can input grades if it is graded. There is more information on discussions, specifically, here: How do I use Draft State in Discussions? (Something unpublished is called "draft state" in the documentation.) Assignments are very similar: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10101-4152180493
Hope this helps, Liz!
