Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
SIS is an acronym for Student Information System. It is your academic information system. Some examples use Banner, Ellucian, Peoplesoft, Jenzebar, etc.
It looks like Valencia College's Atlas System is using Ellucian software.
Some of those provide transfer of individual grade information from Canvas back to the other system, although I think it may be more a K12 thing than higher ed.

Is there an advantage to add SIS student ID numbers to student's profiles? We are using ASAP (which doesn't work well with Canvas), but I find myself wanting to look up information and I want to use student ID numbers to make sure I have the exact student.
Also, are students able to see their student ID number in their profile? We use peripheral LMS programs specifically for remediation, and we have been using their student ID as their password for that LMS. Many times, students forget their student ID, so if they have access to see it in Canvas profile, they can access the other program more easily.
