[ARCHIVED] SIS source ID for student enrollment?

I am attempting to recreate the "Student Submissions" report using tables from the Canvas Data Portal. I have been able to find everything and put it together just fine except SIS source IDs for students. There is a field in the enrollment_dim table called sis_source_id, but it has been deprecated and I haven't been able to find the replacement. I've tried to use the pseudonym_dim table, but not all records there have SIS IDs. The API calls for enrollments can be made to return them. When I look at individual student accounts in Canvas they all have the ID numbers under the login information, and the "Student Submissions" report itself has them all, but I can't find where it gets them from.

Any suggestions where I should be looking?

Thank you for the suggestion. As mentioned in the question, not all records in pseudonym_dim have SIS IDs. The vast majority of records in pseudonym_dim that don't have SIS IDs have a unique_name entry that appears to be a hash of some sort. Opposed to the entries that do have SIS IDs, which are mostly email addresses. I wonder if the sign-up process would have something to do with this.

Still, I'm not sure why the API calls to enrollment would have SIS IDs or where they're coming from.

OK, I missed something.

How are your students created, or how/what handles your SIS Integration?

When you compare what you see in a student profile, the API, and the pseudonym table, are you seeing 1:1 mismatch?

How often to you download the Canvas Data files?

For every student/employee we import via CSV SIS Import we have a unique_name (the login username) and the sis_user_id (employee or student number). Which are the login_id and user_id from SIS Import Format Documentation - Canvas LMS REST API Documentation 

The hash unique_name are likely Test Students, the teacher testing the course a 'student'. Validate that and exclude them.

We use .csv imports as well. I can't believe that's the issue since, when viewing user pages on instructure.com, the email address is listed as the login name and the correct SIS ID is displayed just below that. These aren't all test users or professors: they're students enrolled in courses and making submissions. It could be the unique names are somehow being overwritten by third-party app logins. That kinda makes sense.

Upon further investigation, some SIS IDs and login names are being listed with the incorrect Canvas ID. That is, some records in psuedonym_dim are displaying different names and ID numbers for Canvas IDs than are displayed on the user page.

It appears there's an issue with how pseudonym_dim is generated: I'll open a support ticket.

Looks like your understanding is on target, so maybe there is an issue with the data.

It does happen from time to time. Canvas Data Team is pretty quick at responding.
