Do the courses start automatically when a new course begins?

If things are going as planned, then yes. In reality, there are several things that must come together for that to happen.

You must be enrolled in the course; the teacher must have prepared the course, set the dates correctly, and published the course; the Canvas administrator must have set the term dates (unless the faculty override them); the current date must be within the dates set for the course, etc.

If you have specific concerns that aren't addressed there, you should contact your school or teacher. This is a global community of users of the Canvas learning management system (the software) and we do not have access to your school's instance or records to answer questions about specific courses or policies.
