I'm an English instructor and would rather give students a letter grade than a number grade. Obviously the letter will need to translate to a number. I would prefer a 0-4 scale that replicates the gpa system. For example, I give a student an A-, student gets a 3.67. I give a student a C, student gets a 2.0.
I don't want these to translate to percentages in Canvas. A 2.0 would be a 50%, which the student would internalize as a F.
I want the total to average the points and not give percentages. How do I do that?
