Hi  @bshennington  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

Unless you are using a Free-for-Teachers version of Canvas, teachers should not need to manually enter start or end dates for courses, as the are set at the Admin lever when new terms are defined.

There can be unintended results when a start date is manually set and it is different than what was set for the term, so I would suggest you talk to your Canvas admin before setting a start date.
