Hi, I want students to be able to mark up a text digitally and return it to me as an assignment. Is there an existing Canvas function to do that or do I need to upload an App? I need something like Kami, but that is free and compatible with Canvas. My institution has no funds for paid apps.

Depending on how you access Canvas, you might not need anything else. We're an iOS district, so we do all of our PDF editing within the Canvas Student app.

If you upload a PDF as a file on an assignment and set the submission to File Upload, you can use the Canvas Student app to mark up the PDF directly. This doesn't work on the web, so you would need some other editing tool.
