@mmauldin We use the Canvas Groups which gives students an area to collaborate in.

I have found that students need a little training on Groups as they don't realize they get the private area to collaborate and think they need to come up with their own solution.
We also have both Google and Microsoft 365 integrated in Canvas so that we can use Canvas Collaborations.

For the collaborations, most students are starting Google docs on their own to collaborate so by doing it through Canvas, the instructor is able to track their progress. You also don't run into the whole issue where some how one student gets left out of the share and then group dynamic issues start. I keep hearing horror stories about this when left to just the students.
Obviously there are tools outside of Canvas as well. We pay for every student to have a pro Zoom account so they can meet via Zoom without any limitations (such as the 40 min cut off). Between Canvas/Google/Zoom, we seem to have success with collaboration and students being all over the world.
