Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I have several assignments that students have completed (I watched them complete it) and its not graded or even showing them as completed. Is there something I need to do to make this happen?
@alemire , welcome to the Canvas Community! If the students submitted something to an assignment then the Instructor would need to go in and assign a grade in order for the grade to show up - this is normally done in Speedgrader, but can also be done from the Grades area of Canvas.
Here are a couple of guides that help explain how to do this:
As for them being marked as completed. It depends on whether you're talking about the To Do list or on the Module that they aren't showing up as completed. Could you provide a bit more information on what is happening?

I set up assignments and discussions for each of the chapters I cover. Discussions I know have to be manually headed but that's not the issue. Chapter 1 was an external tool link and graded it automatically. Chapter 2 and 3 assignments (also external took links) did not automatically grade. This is the confusion. Students did the assignments (I watched) yet there is no grade or any verification that they attempted the assignment.

Are you having trouble viewing these grades when you access the gradebook? I had an instructor with this problem yesterday where she would go to the gradebook and it would take a long time to load and not all of the grades showed up. We submitted a support ticket and found out this behavior is happening for users of Internet Explorer and they are working to fix this bug. If you are using IE I would suggest using Chrome or Firefox and not for just this issue since Canvas runs much better through them in general.
@alemire ,
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.

@Robbie_Grant I have this same issue. I help at a support desk at Georgetown and many faculty are having the same issue. It's browser agnostic. Chrome and Safari randomly won't show certain student grades. Please advise!
This is a really old thread, @MollyChehak , and the solution today might differ greatly from what could have been the case three years ago. Have you and your support team escalated your cases to Canvas Support?
