Whenever I attempt to download a file from my instructor an error message arises, stating "I do not have an associated app for this file." What can I do to fix this?

@1567424  I apologize that no one has responded to your question before now. Typically that error message displays when a user attempts to open a file for which they don't have a program installed on their device: for example, the instructor provides a .psd file, but the user downloading that file doesn't have Photoshop installed on their computer and so can't open the file. 

The best course of action would be to contact the instructor directly through the Canvas Inbox and ask that the file be provided in a readily accessible format (PDF is the gold standard): How do I send a message to a user in a course in the Inbox as a student?
