Sorry to see that your question has been sitting out here unanswered for such a long time. Yes, the fact that you are unable to edit pages in a course may be a permission setting. If you have not yet done this, I would recommend that you reach out to someone at your school such as a local Canvas administrator or someone from your school's Online Learning/eLearning department. They should be able to help troubleshoot this more with you to figure out why you are not able to edit content.
