Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hello All,
I am hoping for a clarification about something. When Canvas was using Kaltura to upload/embed media through the Rich Content Editor, I was under the impression that media uploaded in that way did not count against the data storage space allotted to the courses. I recently realized that Canvas is no longer using Kaltura to host the embedded video files, so I am guessing that videos uploaded through the Rich Content Editor do now count toward the course storage limits. I just wanted to clarify that!
Thank you!

Videos uploaded through the filmstrip icon in the content editor still do not count against the course quota. Videos uploaded via files will however.

Hi vrs07nl. Can you reply with the link where you got this? I'd like to forward the page to one of our teachers who was asking about file size uploads for hefty project files like photoshop. TIA!
these are my own notes! happy to share
but NOTE the limits relate to our account - check with your canvas contact as to what your nos of users are as this determines the overall size limits
Thank you so much for this information and for sharing it with us in the Community here.
happy to share
We had one course with a very large video upload so had to change the course allowance on just that course to 4GB... not something we do usually
