I grade using my apple pen. It is wonderful to be able to write comments and make corrections on the papers. I would like to write on the discussion posts. I want my students to use correct grammar, spelling, etc. and not make careless errors. Discussion posts should not read like texts to friends. Any ideas? It is time-consuming to post comments that direct students to their errors.

I would stipulate in rubrics that a paper should be written in academic language, and suggest Grammarly or a similar site to assist students. I teach high school, and I would also return papers and ask that they have a peer review it in order to catch things like that. Worth a shot. Have you shown them examples?Sometimes that helps as well.
