Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I am new to Canvas. What is the difference between k12.instructure.com versus canvas.instructure.com?

Hi @Bobby2 and @rmanalastas
Yes, these are both instances of Canvas related to Free for Teacher, the version of Canvas anyone in the world can use for free. When filling in the form to request access to FFT, if you choose the option for K12 you are routed to k12.instructure.com and if you choose anything besides K12 you are routed to canvas.instructure.com. If you happen to have enrollments in both, you should see all your courses listed on your dashboard no matter which instance you are logged into.
Hi @rmanalastas this is curious. They seem to go to different places but I'm assuming they are to do the same thing.

What if I want to change to canvas.instructure.com?
Hello @dans8
If you fill out the form and specify higher education I believe you will be directed to canvas.instructure.com. As far as I know there is not a pathway for moving courses or enrollments from the one domain to the other.
Many of my students are registered through canvas.instructure but my class, registered through k12.instructure, does not show up in their canvas account. It works for some but a majority of students cannot access my class on their dashboard. Any idea as to why this might be happening?
Free for Teacher grew too big to fit into one instance of Canvas. 🙂
