Good afternoon, @covingtonr1 ...
Happy New Year! The answer to your question is not very easy to answer here in the Canvas Community, unfortunately. The reason for this is that each school that utilizes Canvas as their LMS (Learning Management System) has different processes and/or policies in place as to when they allow students to access courses in Canvas. So, you will most likely need to reach out to someone at your school such as your instructor, a local Canvas administrator, or someone from your school's Online Learning/eLearning department to find out the specifics. If you go to your "Courses" >> "All Courses" screen in Canvas (How do I view all my Canvas courses as a student? - Canvas Community), do you see your up-coming course(s) listed there? If not, then you definitely need to talk with someone at your school. Also, your instructor(s) will most likely also need to "publish" their course(s) in order for you to access the content. If you do see your course(s) listed on the "All Courses" screen, check the "Published" column on the far right side of the screen to see if it says "Yes" or "No". If any course has "No" next to it, then the instructor has not yet made the content available...as he/she may not be quite ready to release the content until closer to or on the published start date of the course.
I hope this will be of help to you. Good luck to you as you begin a new semester at your school! Take care, and be well.
