Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
Hi All.
We currently have an ongoing issue for students with the courses immediately available on the "Courses & Groups" menu (in the old UI) or as course cards on the dashboard (in the new UI).
(Note: We are still using the old UI, but I have tested this same issue in our Beta environment which has the new UI.)
All current semester courses should automatically display for all users either in the drop down menu in the old UI or as course cards on the dashboard in the new UI. If a student is enrolled in five current semester courses, then all five should be immediately available without requiring the user to "favorite" a course for it to be visible.
However, Canvas is not functioning in this manner, at least for us. It appears that by default only three current semester courses show up initially. To have all courses display, students who are enrolled in more than three courses have to know to click the View All or Customize link (in the old UI) or, in the new UI, click the Courses icon and then the View All link and select the courses to be a favorite so they do display immediately. The problem for us is that students do not know to do this. We have several semester-based virtual tutoring labs in which many students are enrolled (in the same manner in which they are enrolled in courses). The links to the labs show for students who have only two courses. Students who have three or more courses, only three courses show up immediately, and the others remain hidden requiring the student to find and then favorite them for quicker access..
Is anyone else having this issue? Is it a problem? Is there a work around? Has a feature idea been submitted by anyone? Does one need to be submitted?
I am interested in hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
Holly

@hvaughn ,
