[ARCHIVED] Canvas role that allows access to role call attendance but denies access to grades

I have asked my institution's Canvas team this question, and their answer contradicts what I have found for myself on this Canvas Community site, so I'll go ahead and outline what I would like to do, and see if y'all can answer me.

I need a Canvas role for someone who is NOT the instructor to have access to course content (like a student would), but also have access to the roll call attendance tool. This person MAY NOT EVER see grades. Is there a Canvas role that would allow the person access to attendance but NOT to the grade book?

My institution told me the Teaching Assistant role would work, but it is my understanding from reading this site that the TA role DOES allow interaction with grades.
