[ARCHIVED] Canvas Change and Faculty Notification Management

Hello!

I am interested to see what people are doing to manage Canvas changes and notifying faculty of these changes. For instance, do you review the Canvas release notes, cull what you think is relevent to your campus and place these on a blog that is updated often? Do you have email newsletters? Do you have a general Canvas website?

Hi Greg,

It seems like a million years ago now but I used to working in the community college world where a big part of my job was to help faculty members learn how to use technology or think about how to employ it effectively in what they did.  I did not work with Canvas but with other similar systems, when we would get information about an upcoming version change or update I would send our faculty a summary and also a survey about what time slots would work for them for an orientation session (doodle.com) and a list of specific topics based on what was changing.  Then I did the best I could to match interested parties with session times.  I also stalked a lot of people in their offices.

Hi Greg!  I work with a relatively small group of faculty (under 100) and so I cull through the release notes to see what is relevant and interesting to our faculty and send out an email highlighting those updates.  If there is something really important, say specific to Grades, I'll create a screencast video and send as a separate email on another day to get more attention.  And then I may do even more follow up with individuals or specific departments if needed.
