[ARCHIVED] Can we increase the size of an icon?

This, for example, produces an undesirable result (see attached screenshot):

I would, ideally, like to create something like the icon/text combo seen here: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (see attached screenshot).

I'm also interested in this. I've stooped to using the text code for these icons in the past (something like /E4A2), but these codes constantly change, so I always have to update those icons. When I try and use icon classes, they cannot be resized (via html or CSS).
