Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
I have a student who has an incomplete grade. She recently completed the course after the semester expired. I went into the course to change her grade and it is locked. I can not make any changes. I need to update her grades for a new final grade. How can I revise grades on an expired course?

If the section end date has passed (or the course end date, depending on the settings) your course will be set in a read only mode. You may need to have your Canvas Administrator change the date to allow you to update the grade, if you can't.

Hi @DanHahn ...
It is possible to open up a course just for one student...if that is what you are wanting to do. When we get requests from our faculty who have students who need more time, we do the following as Canvas administrators:
If you are a Canvas admin, you could then "act as" (masquerade) as the student to make sure that this person has access to the course...and that the instructor could change the grade.
Hope this helps a bit. If I've missed the boat on what you are asking, please come back to this thread to provide additional information so we can continue to help you. Thanks!

I am dealing with a couple of teachers who need to adjust grades in a course that ended last night with T1, I know we can go in and adjust the dates if we change the participation from term to course. This will allow for grading to be finalized by the teachers, but will it mess anything up when the next sync to Synergy takes place? Will they need to go back after changing grades & put participation back to the "Term" setting?
Wouldn't this re-open the course to all students? That's not what we want.
