[ARCHIVED] Can I install Canvas on my own server?

I am a complete newbie to this.  My new school uses Canvas - I am used to using Moodle.  Moodle is completely open-source/free if you have your own server.  What about Canvas?

The Canvas Developers‌ group is where your fellow experts gather to exchange their ideas and provide help with self-installed Canvas, and I've shared your question out to that group on your behalf—so no need to repost, but if you'd like to join the group, navigate to the group's home page and select Join Group from the Actions dropdown that displays at the upper right of the page. Once you've joined, you can post other questions directly to that group as well as participate in ongoing discussions underway there.
