Celebrate Excellence in Education: Nominate Outstanding Educators by April 15!
My school blocks Youtube access for students. However, they have discovered a loophole by choosing Discussion, selecting the blue Discussion+ button, this
opens an open and editable Canvas window.
Students can then choose to
a) upload image and choose to search the web for an image based on keywords
using Unsplash image database tool.
b) select the plugin (tools) icon and choose to open up a search window
within a Canvas window in YouTube, Wikipedia, Google Apps, etc.
We are using Hapara and Deledao to monitor and filter, but students are still getting through.
Is there a way to block Youtube from RCE?
Thank you!

Hi @jodilepla
You are going to hate how easy this is.................... Just restrict students from being able to create their own discussions!
You can learn more at How do I set details for a course?
Then the real challenge starts, some teachers will insist they need to be able to allow their students to create their own discussions, and other teachers will be more concerned about YouTube, and the twain shall never meet.
Enjoy,
Kelley
