We are entertaining turning on the Canvas authentication and are wondering how it affects Catalog.  Has anyone done this and what was the experience? 

Currently have a population of participants (200+) we register and work with. 

However we have a large number (77,000) enrollments that are public and self register and self enroll.  Does any one have any advise.

What authentication are you planning on using? What is your set up for Catalog?

We are looking at using the Canvas Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication.  First we will try with the Admins for discovery to decide if we turn on for all.

This is for Canvas but does it affect Catalog.  My thoughts are for those that are public and trying to enroll in free public courses.  We have a series of free COVID 19 courses that have over 78,000 enrollments.  We plan on continuing these.  These are self register and self enroll.  How would authentication affect these.

Authentication for Catalog is used from the Canvas admin settings so yes it will be affected.
