How do I keep the questions attached to a stimulus in an item bank?
I have created several stimulus questions, each with 3 different attached questions. When I created them, I added them to an item bank. I would like to have a quiz pull one stimulus and its attached questions at random. Unfortunately, when I tried to pull a random question from the item bank, it just pulled one of the associated questions without the stimulus. If this is the case, what is the point of putting the questions in the item bank?

Thanks to everyone who has participated in this discussion. The Stimulus item type is not currently designed to link permanently to specific questions in item banks. In old quizzes, you can't attach specific questions to a stimulus. The way I do it is name the stimulus and then name the questions (Stimulus) question 1, etc.
Then when setting up the quiz, add the stimulus first by using the "find question" tool to pull the stimulus from the bank. Then do the "find question" tool again, but this time, pick the questions that match the stimulus and at the bottom, add them to a new question group (if you want them randomized).
How do I create a quiz by finding questions in a question bank?
In new quizzes, you do attach questions directly to stimulus items.

I couldn't figure out how to create stimulus questions in the item bank directly, so I created the questions in a quiz and then put them in the item bank. When I went to pull a random question, however, the attached questions aren't really attached, so it just pulled the question without the stimulus. In this screen shot, questions 1-3 were created in the quiz. Question 4 was pulled randomly from the item bank. I want to know how to keep the questions associated with their stimulus in the item bank.
You are correct. It doesn't keep them attached in the item bank. You will need to add the stimulus first from the bank and then attach the questions from the bank manually. I'm not sure if they will shuffle though, I tried selecting "shuffle questions" in settings, but during preview, the order never changed for me.
I have the same problem, Sandra. I would like the questions to be linked to the stimulus in such a way that a random selection from the back could pull a stimulus with its associated questions, but there does not seem to be away to do it. Having backed a stimulus with its attached questions, one must manually input the stimulus into a given quiz and ask for its associated questions. As it is, the quiz pulls questions that make no sense, because they were written in association with a stimulus, but the random selection draws the question into the quiz without the stimulus. The Canvas designs are usually well conceptualised, but this one is frustratingly ill-conceived.
Not being able to permalink a stimulus to its questions is a HUGE failing for this LMS (along with the no partial credit in quizzes.next). Perhaps with the change in ownership, it will no longer take 4+ years for design/programming issues to be resolved.
