How do you automatically assign students to reply to another classmate's discussion post?

Unfortunately, you can not directly require students to reply to one another, like how a module will not let you move on until you have completed a task. But you can allow them to reply one another. In the directions that I provide my students for a discussion post I tell them that they must reply to X number of students and include then I include the appropriate parameters for a response. I also will include this in the rubric for the discussion post, so students are aware of the expectations. One of my favorite features in the discussion post settings is to not allow students to read what their peers have written until they post something themselves.
