We currently have lab assessments that are printed in hard copy. We want to put the assessments in Canvas as a task so the trainer can just mark off each skill as S/NYS. what is the best way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

First, let me make sure I have this correct....................
- Your students perform a lab,
- You or a designee assesses student performance in the lab using a worksheet of criteria,
- The criteria can be rated Satisfactory, or Not Yet Satisfactory (if I'm unbundling your acronym correctly).
If that is correct, then yes you can do this in canvas.
- Create a lab assignment. How do I create an assignment?
- Create an assessment Rubric. How do I add a rubric in a course?
- The rubric criteria would be the same as your current hard-copy assessment criteria.
- The criteria ratings in the rubric could be set to S/NYS.
- Attach the rubric to the assignment. How do I attach a rubric to an assignment?
- Use Speedgrader to grade (assess) each student's lab performance using the rubric.
One of the huge advantages to using this method, is that if the labs are performed in-person (like in an actual lab setting), then the rubric can be used as an observational grading tool. Open Speedgrader in a mobile device, observe the student, mark the rubric, and save the marked rubric. The student's score for the work is immediately updated in Canvas for the student to review.
I hope this is helpful,
Kelley
