We've got some fantastic news to share – we've just finished a brand new video resource that provides an overview of the Discussion Redesign in Canvas! 

Over the last two years since this feature group was created, our team has released many updates to the Discussion/Announcement Redesign feature preview. Taking user feedback from this group, the community as a whole, and internally to ensure that what we created didn’t have any loss in functionality but also provided new functionality that our users needed.

Hello, I wanted to talk about somethings that I like about canvas that I have learned the past few days. Firstly I appreciate how easy it is to reach instructors and peers. Being able to reach others so easily makes me feel better about asking for help so I don't have to wait for hours to get the help I need. I also like that there are resources for us to use to remind us how to do certain formats and citations. It helps me be more productive that everything I need is in one area and I don't have to spend time searching google for it. lastly the Turnitin tool is so unique and useful to make sure I am getting a good grade on my work and being sure I am putting things in my own words. My only concern is managing my time, I understand how to use canvas and do not have any questions about that. I hope that I will gain the knowledge to work with computers like I've always wanted to. I want to get a good job doing something I love.

Hi everyone, we have the following updates coming to Discussions Redesign. Will solving these issues in Coming Soon give you or your institution the confidence to enable the Discussions Redesign Feature Preview flag? If not, please comment (kindly) on what is missing and your specific use case.

Your feedback is very important to us. We are trying a new approach in delivering work behind a Feature Preview flag while we're in active development so we can get your feedback sooner. This means features will continue to improve and possibly get completely reworked.

As Erin mentioned, we are real humans behind these posts who only want to create the most optimal Canvas experience for you all. Our entire team is focused on doing the right thing for our customers. Constructive dialog is welcome and encouraged but please, please lead with kindness. Imagine how you would want students to provide feedback on your course, or teachers to provide feedback on institutional programs.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for testing our latest release! Based on your feedback we are proposing the following changes. If you are not using Discussions redesign, please let us know what is missing before you are able to switch over. 

Hi everyone, when we started our discovery for updating Discussions these reply navigation issues and feature requests quickly surfaced:

1. Modern digital conversation tools follow a vertical format vs. horizontal
2. Discussions with many replies sometimes took too long to load or timed out
3. You cannot tag another person with an @mention
4. You cannot quote the person you are replying to
5. There were too many clicks to see and respond to unread replies from the Discussion index page

Hi everyone, we are so excited to start collecting your feedback for Anonymity + Moderation features in Discussions. We have a couple of surveys lined up to get your feedback and share upcoming designs. 

Up first is “Creating a New Discussion Survey” to ensure we have simplified how you create Discussion topics. Next week, we will update this post and activate the link for "Anonymity, Moderation, Reporting Survey".
