Canvas Deploy Notes (2024-04-10)

Canvas deploys contain code changes that are intended to fix bugs, improve performance, and prepare for new features. These deploys take place every two weeks and can be tested in the beta environment before the production deploy date indicated in the title of this document. Institutions are responsible for conducting thorough evaluations of their custom CSS/JS with each release and deploy to assess potential impacts.

Updating jQuery in Canvas


Summary

jQuery is updated to version 3.5. Additionally, jQuery Migrate 1.4 is replaced with 3.4.1. 

Note: While jQuery migrate 1.4 patches jQuery pre-1.9 up to 1.9, jQuery Migrate 3.4.1 will patch jQuery 1.9 up to 3.x. Any custom JavaScript support that was removed in jQuery 1.9 will not be patched.

Institutions utilizing custom JavaScript may experience potential impacts. It is advised to consistently validate that customizations function as intended in the Canvas beta environment throughout the upcoming releases and deploys.
